Dear Momin, Junaid:-ZULM-O JABAR KEY CHAUDRAHAT MUSTAQIL NAHI HOTI.
To know the sense of vers زُيِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ حُبُّ الشَّهَوَاتِ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ وَالْبَنِينَ وَالْقَنَاطِيرِ الْمُقَنطَرَةِ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ وَالْخَيْلِ الْمُسَوَّمَةِ وَالْأَنْعَامِ وَالْحَرْثِ ذَلِكَ مَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَاللّهُ عِندَهُ حُسْنُ الْمَآبِread the verses 3/2—22 carefully.
1:-The divine system is eternal till the last day of the universe 3/2
2:- The said system of prosperity or torments of nations has been described 3-7
3:- Momins are very much confident at the system described in Quran 8-9.
4:- The divine system could never be changed even by any resource able anti Islamic forces. For example Firaon and his nation verses 10-11.
5:- The establishment of Islamic state has been assured where accountability would be at merit.verse 12. .
6:-The principle of success ((that is continuous struggle) in“Maarka-e-haq-o-Batil” has been described in verse 13.

LET US COME TO THE VERSE UNDER QUESTION 3/14.
To know the sense of this verse go to the verse 10-11, where the example of Firaon and his nation has been given.
Hubbushahawat = Extreme desire.
Hayat addunya = temporary benifits.
a)Desire from Nisaa= to dominate at the weaker segment of the society, and to keep them as a downtrodden.
b)Desire from Baneen = to have always the group of strong people of the society with them see the verses 74/13,16/46.
c)Desire of wealth and ownered property = To keep the resource of the society under their full control.
The consequences of this type of plundering and savagery will be the frustration in the society, which would never be everlasting.( Ameer-e-shehr se hisab lay lai gai ........ghareeb-e-shehr k bachey jawan honey do)
. Whereas the prosperous life IN THE SOCIETY depends upon the ATTRIBUTE OF TAQWA IN THE PEOPLE’S LIFE DESCRIBED IN VERSES 16-17.
NOW COSOLIDATE VERSE 2 AND 18 OF THIS SURAH TO END THE DISCUSSION.

Salaam;

Brother Moazzam, that was an excellent and quite logical explanation. I think I misunderstood this verse earlier on but now everything is clear to me :)
One more question has come to my mind after going through your points. I would request you to please share your views regarding wealth and riches. Does Quran prohibits wealth? OR Is wealth allowed? If it is allowed, then to what extent, one can enhance his/her standard of living according to Quranic instructions?
