Respected dr. QAMAR ZAMAN SH AOA

1- I just want to divert ur attention towards a fact that in verse 2/ 7 the word Absarehim is uesd . its one of meaning is eyes too and another to see on the bases of knowledge, by using this word ALLAH has pointed out towards their ability to reach at a conclusion after close consideration so its translation should not be the EYES.

2- Secondly in verse no- 2/28 the translation of word ALLAH should not be "KHUDA" BECAUSE khuda is a persian name, which is used for so many khuda in different societies. We believers of QURAN believe in one authoriy that is ALLAH and we know that the ALLAH' s personality can not be grasped by any human being 6/103
we can only recognise Him by His attributes, principles and laws of nature so traslation of ALLAH should be qawaneen-e-Ellahi. this is just my opinion i may be wrong

In the end i must say that At last the most precious and glorious moment has come that the translation of QURAN in its true sense has started to present by this institution i.e.aastana team under the supervision of dr. Qamar Zaman and the translation should be full of reasons, logics, explanation of each and every word that why it is used and on the bases of arabic linguistic and gramatic principles

perhaps Allama Iqbal has said for these moments that "hazaroon saal nirgis apni benoori pe roti rahi bari mushkil se hota hae chaman meein dedao dar paida

Aslamoalikum Dr. Qamar Zaman Sahab:
Although it is a good initiative but many things still need clearification. As you have started translation so I think it should be comprehensive. Now for example see:
1. Meaning of word Baqra is not a part of this tafseer, although you have already given the meaning of this word in one of your answers but it should be the part of this tafseer as well.
2. One thing that is very strange for me the usual way of translation of Quran has been adopted by you for example the verse 7, 15 and 18 of chapter 2, these are the most misunderstood type of the verses, these need to be more elaborated as we know that a lay man is not able to translate the quran.
3.Word ALIF lAM MEIM is still a mystery in your tafseer why you have not made it clear? If you have given the meaning of these words some where else than it should be the part of this tafseer as well.
4. In 2:3 there are 2 confusing words mutaqi and ghaibe, what we call mutaqe? and what do you mnean by ghaibi qawaneen? How can we believe that it is a ghaibe qanon why should we believe and the other thing is that if we start using mind we will not admit the ghaibe qanon as we can't see God so these things should be very clear.
5.In verse 4 there is said about the people in the past and present and the present people are concerned with Muhammad if the silsilae risalat and nabowat is continue why it was not said that people who will follow our guiidance in the future (which we will/can give through a new nabi) will be mutaqe as well??????why quran is ambigious?????????????
6. verse 7 should not be translated as you have presented it, a new reader will be confused to see the usuall wording of muhar lagana etc.
These things I have pointed out only from 7 verses, I hope you will not mind as i have very little knowledge and I am writting on the research work of a learned scholar.

Translation of Ayat no.28 of Sura albukra is not understood/appealing. Its translation as it is, is more

Translation of Ayat no.28 of Sura albukra is not understood/appealing. Its translation as it is, is more
appropriate. Allama Pervez seems to be correct here. Doctor Sahib translated it keeping in view, a preconceived
idea, that the book discusses life before death and not after death.I think it discusses both.

Dr.sb please explain this ayat (27) ahad and meesaq. When this ahad and mesaq was done?

Comments by: moazzam On 12 November 2010
Dear Pervez ,Momin: regards.Although the Quranic terms MOUT O HAYAT means the real death and real life, but to understand these terms used in verse 2/28, you may consider the same sense as taken in verse 3/49 by GA Pervez in case of prophet Eisa. No 1:- "the UROOJ O ZAWAL" of nations / indivisual No 2:- the death of their SELF so as ,they could not discreminate right from wrong(haq from batil . Plz read the verses 8/24 to know the term HAYAT. Now consolidate the verse 2/27 to know the reasons of their MOUT O HAYAT.Now com up to verse 22/65--66,and take the same meaning of Mout o hayat , let us make the sense of verses quoted as here,"because Allah is RAUF ARRAHEEM,Allah make you alive with his guidance and your attitude always remained to be dead ( due to your evil deads ), repeatedly, but you are the ego-struthing".Come to the verse 7/25, see this verse in the context of the subject ,that is the QISSA E ADAM ,in this verse it is not to be realized about your living and death will be at the planet Earth, rather the laws of UROOJ O ZAWAL has been described, and the life after death will also be continued from here. After reading the verse 45/23--35 go back to the verse 45/26 ,keeping in view the scenario of devined established state of the momineen. The true sense of MOUT O HAYAT of the nations could be understood by the verse 45/35. The especial attention should be given at 45/24--26 ,keeping in view the same sense of the terminology under question.I think the TRANSLATION OF VERSE 2/28 BY DR QAMAR IS CORRECT.

Dear all members ,
The Divine authority introduces himself through his attributes and qualities.
About himself He says ,
لا تُدْرِكُهُ الأبْصَارُ وَهُوَ يُدْرِكُ الأبْصَارَ وَهُوَ اللَّطِيفُ الْخَبِيرُ

103. no vision can grasp him, but his grasp is over All vision. He is the Most Subtle and Courteous, Well Acquainted with All things.

So question about his being does not arise. Now lets face some questions ,

“ Is world of hereafter like our world or different ?”
“ Is it Physical or Metaphysical ?”
“ What is the criteria of entering into that world ?”
“ Is there any description of that world in Quran?”

Answers to these Quran will decide about the Metaphysical world of hereafter.

Yes the world hereafter is not physical and we neither understand God as a being nor his world hereafter. The criteria of entering into that world is dependent as Mr Pervez said:
“We have choice to make that appointment while we are here in mortal bodies by following his commandments,”

Now coming to question no 4 description of that metaphysical world in Quran ,

Logically there can not be a description of a thing in any book which you can not understand. As It will be useless to tell the description of God so is the case with his metaphysical world It will be useless to tell the details of that world .
So In my view ( and I can be 100% wrong ) there can not be any description of Life hereafter.

Now coming to verse 28 of sura Al-baqra , there are few question again, If someone wants from you to accept his point of view what should be the basics of the rationales ? i.e. what should be the solid grounds so that you accept his viewpoint. I think the solid grounds are :
Either Observation supported by Statistics
Or
Knowledge ,

Now coming to verse 28 of sura Al-baqra
كَيْفَ تَكْفُرُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَكُنْتُمْ أَمْوَاتًا فَأَحْيَاكُمْ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُحْيِيكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

28. How can You disbelieve In Allâh? Seeing that You were dead and He gave You life. Then He will give You death, Then again will bring You to life (on the Day of Resurrection) and Then unto Him You will return. (usual translation )

This verse clearly says
!.., We were dead
2.., He gave us life
3.., He will make us dead again
4.., then again he will make us alive
5.., Then unto him we will return .

Except for the second and third stage all other stages can neither be confirmed by any observation supported by statistical evidences or by knowledge from the past .

Even second and third stage is controversial for some . If we are supposed to believe blindly then there is no point in going into all this cumbersome exercise. If we have to accept some faiths blindly then why not all of it .

I agree with Adnan M Khan that :
"There is no one we know of who has returned to us and told us about life after death ".

I am sure more than anything that ,
QURAN DOES’NT TALK OF THOSE THINGS WHICH CANT BE PROVED OR ARE BEYOND OUR COPREHENSION OR UNDERSTANDING

Comments by: Nargis On 26 November 2010Report Abuse
I think Dr Q gave a comprehensive explanation, and i am of the same mind .The Quran says (according to the traditional translation):

Do they not think deeply in the Qur’an?" (4:82, 47:24)

"This book (i.e., the Qur’an) has been sent down on you (O Prophet) that they may think deeply on its verses." (38:29)

[It must be emphasized here that pondering in the translation and tafseer of the Qur’an is not equivalent to pondering in the Qur’an.]

How do we "think deeply in the Quran" if its own aya is beyond our comprehension ?

If any aya is not intended to be understood by human beings (@ any time or era), then why tell us about it?

"Ask then, (O Prophet!) Bring your proofs if you are the truthful." (2:111)

what kind of request is this if the Quran's own aya’s cant be proven?

"Say (O Prophet!): Are those equal; those who know and those who do not know?" (39:9)

No they are not, but how do we KNOW anything we cant comprehend? Maybe such requirements are only applicable for anything but the Quran?

Of course the Quran must be comprehensible and make statements that can be confirmed. There is no point in sending a manuscript, which is not to be understood.

God knew we are going to ask for proofs, right? I just cant imagine that we are smarter than the originator. Its obvious that in order to meet the requirements of understanding and fulfilment, explanations and substantiation must be provided/arranged.

If we can not understand his book, (or the part that is supposed to reveal itself for our time) that alone is reason enough to give a damn.

Heyyy, someone please explain these words :

"Agar na sahl hon tujh par zameen ke hangame Buri hay mastiye adesha haa-e-aflaaki"

"Yeh dunya da’wate deedaar hay farzande Adam ko -Ki her mastoor ko bakhsha gaya hay zauqe ‘uryaani"

aysa kya?

and this one, Hazarou bars NARGIS apni benouri pe roti hai ...cant remember all of it. Why is the author talking about me :-O ? He didnt even know me :-(

You wrote,

I tend to disagree with you. If this is the case than why he talks about himself ? what is he? we can't
understand him ? Why he wants us to believe in him we can't comprehend him ? We can not comprehend
Wahi but he wants us to believe? No doctor sahib No , he talks about things we can not comprehend.
Please do not defend him on that account. I have many question to ask him. Someone here with good

you don't mind that.

The creator has only provided us with the amount of knowledge which was substantial enough for man to comprehend. All living creatures require nourishment and nurture, and we are told that Creator provide such nourishment. As we have the ability/ mental capacity to understand this. The Creator has not provided a detailed description of himself, however the Creator has stated that those who folow the divine commands, who investigate and reflect upon the laws of the universe, those who understand permanent values of the Quran, applie this in their lives, or come closer to understanding the Creator.

Wahy is to be understood, it is right there. How it came to the Prophet ? Maybe we must be a Prophet to host and understand such a power,,,

Dear sister Nargis,

I agree with momin, Quran discusses every information necessary for human life.
Even those things which can not be proved as much as their information is necessary. May not be in
detail. Quran discusses life after death not in detail but as much as it is necessary. But we do not comprehend.

"..............BUL AHYA HOOM WALA KILA TUSHAROON"

We don't comprehend life after death but Quran talks about it.

Would you please explain WHY its necessary if its not to be understood? How can we benefit from the "necessary" information which is not makin any sense or to be comprehended? If 5 aya's in the Quran are not to be comprehended, whats the point of them being there? Coldnt the Creator just send us 20 books with incomprehensible messages? exactly what is the point of telling something that we do not understand? What benefit is there for humanity that the book talks about anything beyond our grasping ability?

how is it necessary if it is of no use?

Just curious :-% (Let me get my pop corn and coke, cant wait to read your reply :-D, Ab Astana Wali ko bhi hazarou bars rona pare ga :()

Nargis,
Allow me to answer your query,

Take the example of a child who asks her mother how he was born and when he sees someone
dying, again he asks regarding death, Or the mother wants to teach him certain morals by creating stories
to make difficult problems easy. Questions of the child have to be answered by coming down to his level
of understanding.

Development / evolution of humanity can also be compared with the development of a child. When the
child becomes mature he even loughs over the answers given by his mother in his childhood. But that
education was necessary.

Muslims were very happy with the story of Adam and Eve but now those who are matured give it a different
meanings. Why? Why metaphor was used which is now required to be interpreted? That is why I feel the
divine guidance must continue may be in the form of reminders as explained by Doctor Qamer and Moazzem.
I just can not think that the people than had not asked about physical death from the Prophet. Than what
was the reply. Must be in Quran.

I can explain it further but you are intelligent enough to understand.

You may find many children misbehaving with everyone on aastana but they should be ignored. How can you
educate them. Just think. Such creatures are also human beings, they are also required to be educated. The
task of Prophet is not easy. Brother Moazzem will bear me out.

salam Dr. sahib,
I only recently knew about your works. I am very interested your works.
but unfortunately I dont know urdu. so I have to wait for english articles.
since 1991( in my 18 year age) I was in the root of "ONLY QURAN" by the impact of Moulavi chekanoor -Kerala- India(kidnapped and assasinated on 29 th July 1993). but after his death we had no guidance to study and understand the quran. After then I read the recent translations , but I had no satisfaction about the current translations , because so many problems in the translations even in the "only quranists " translations too!!
but after I read your concepts about "A-ssalat ,A-Zakath, A-ssiyam, al-Hajj etc , I felt It is the currect way , what the Quran is. Thank God! May god bless you greatley.

I have different thinking about Allah.he is not a person, nor a power . we cannot asses god( ALLAH) through Scientific method. but only through Great visions of his endless CHARACTERS( ie, ASMA-UL HUSNA)

You give translation to 3:103 تُدْرِكُهُ الأبْصَارُ وَهُوَ يُدْرِكُ الأبْصَارَ وَهُوَ اللَّطِيفُ الْخَبِيرُ as

3. no vision can grasp him, but his grasp is over All vision. He is the Most Subtle and Courteous, Well Acquainted with All things.

but sir, in this sentence the subject is AL-ABSAR(THE VISIONS) not about persons.
so I think the correct translation is
" No (PHYLOSOPHICAL )VISIONS can OVERTAKE the vision of GOD, but the vision fo god overtakes Every PHYLOSOPHICAL VISIONS---- (because the vision of god is throug ASMAUL - HUSNA) ,he is al-lathheef and al-khbeer.

ismu-allah(the name of god) is the totality of all endless good names(characters-ie, asmaul-husna) of allah,

I respectfully wait your reply
thanking you

Dear sir qamar zaman the lexicon of lane explicitly defines the meaning of mout as the senses being dead, become lifeless,, deprived of intellect, lack of spirit. You dont need to defend yourself for that mout in lexicons also have the same meaning.

Dear Kaliath, so nice to read about your journey.

I think he is referring to verse no 6:103 and the verse is NOT talking about Allah as in the traditional sense. This is referring to the state based on wahy and all the attributes are for the state established under the instructions and parameters of the Quran

The verse is actually saying that no wisdom or intellect can cover or grasp it (the range or knowledge covered by a state containing the asmaa, attributes as described in the Quran) but the state based on wahy can comprehend or cover all the fields of wisdom

Then the reason is given :- because it is all knowing

now imagine a state with different ministries, ministry of defense, ministry of finance, ministry of oil and energy, ministry of Justice, ministry of health, ministry of environment, ministry of education, ministry of culture, ministry of agriculture, ministry of welfare and so on ... Now these fields of a a country need people who are educated in all the respective areas, so one person can't specialize in everything. But the state, have the full overview

They all talk about an Islamic state but if you look for it, you cant find it anywhere? why? simply because all the attributes in the Quran have been limited and isolated from this planet, they are reserved for a God in sitting beyond the skies. Those attributes are suppose to reflect the abilities of a state based on wahy, and this is what wahy which is reflected by its state when Salaat is established

So Aastanas translation is not the one you posted its

تمام تر عقل و خرد اسکا احاطہ نہیں کرتی جبکہ مملکت الہیہ تمام تر بصائر کااحاطہ کرتی ہے ۔ کیونکہ وہ با خبرباریک بیں ہے ۔

(as explained in English above)

Thank you
