| Dear Bilal,
Re.29/48.
I copy/paste my reply to you here as you must have already read in my last mail to you.
The Root is ت ل و . (t l w). Talutuhu - I walked after him, I followed him.
According to Imam Raghab, TILAWAH means following, walk behind someone. Sometimes it is physical following and somewhere it is the following of commands.
Wal Qamaru Iza Talahaa - The moon walks behind it (the sun) (physical following).
Tilawah means reciting too but a reciting for the purpose of following. IQRA means reciting but only reading not following.
So, MA KUNTA TATLU can easily mean "You were not.... following a book earlier than this.....
And it cannot mean that Rasool was illiterate and could not "READ" a book before his Prophet-hood.
To think that God would choose an illiterate person to understand His Ideology and to revolutionize the human society, would not be logical at all.
Your belief, in the first line of your question, seems quite agreeable.
God bless you. | |
