Why not brother? Society should legislate laws for all offenses including rape.

Comments by: Adnan Muhammad Khan On 02 February 2011
Who says that there is no punishment for rape? Rape is a CRIME... and criminal must be punished...

Comments by: Zubair On 07 February 2011
I agree with you, Brother Momin and Adnan. Rape is one of the worst crimes and statistics clearly show that a rapist keeps piling up victims until he is apprehended. According to the Daily Express columnist Hamid Akhtar this crime is on the rise in Pakistan. Even small children, both boys and girls, are being raped and murdered daily. Sadly, our religious leaders are busy protecting the “honor” of the Prophet. They have no time to fight against social ills or protect the citizens from criminals. Anyway I believe if anybody deserves a capital punishment, it is the murderer or rapist.

My question was....'Why is there no punishment for rape in the Quran ?'

Comments by: moazzam On 03 March 2011
Dear Rafi ! As there is no any list of HALAL O HARAM in eating / drinking matter, same like, there is no any list of crimes and respective punishments in Quran. Quran just provides permanent values in humanities (to protect the human rights), from which society will legislate the laws which are most suited in that era................................see the mand mad punishments as under .................."Decision of a Fatwa committee on the case of a convert to Christianity: "Since he left Islam, he will be invited to express his regret. If he does not regret, he will be killed pertaining to rights and obligations of the Islamic law." Imagine, does Quran permits?

**('Why is there no punishment for rape in the Quran ?') by Rafi
Dear friend, why you insist on rape alone?
What about other serious crimes?
Why there is no punishment for drug trafficking in Quran?
Do you think it's a minor crime?
Why there is no punishment of fraud or cheating in Quran?
Why there is no punishment for extortion in Quran?
Why there is no punishment for robbery in Quran?
Why there is no punishment for terrorism in Quran?
Why there is no punishment for smuggling in Quran?
What about those who kill innocent people in the name of blasphemy?
In many so called "Muslim countries" killing in the name of religion is almost legal.
Why there is no punishment in Quran for all these crimes?
Why do you expect all these crimes and their punishments to be the part of the constitution of a welfare state?
Do you think mankind is dumb enough to identify these crimes and define the punishments?
I suppose it's only the so called "Muslims" who are unable to categorize these crimes, just because of their dependence on sharia (defined by illiterate mullahs), otherwise all other nations are sensible enough to identify and legislate appropriate punishments for rape and other crimes.
Most importantly, you need to see how many people have been punished in so called Muslim states for committing rape till now?
Those who consider themselves the flag carriers of Islam, the favorites of creator, have not punished a single person for committing rape, rather the poor victim gets stoned to death being charged for adultery.

There is a verse in the Qur'an that prescribes horrible punishment for those who harrass women (sorry forgetting the verse). Does Rape not fall under gross violation of women and extreme harrassment?
